Mission & History
Welltone New Music, Inc.
Established in 2003, Welltone New Music, Inc. supports creative music projects that serve the public through cultural diversity, education, outreach and innovation. Its primary goal is to supply living composers with performance opportunities and to provide the public with a way to experience contemporary music. Through the efforts of President Victoria Bond, Welltone produces and finances Cutting Edge Concerts and Cutting Edge Kids.

Cutting Edge Concerts
Cutting Edge Concerts (née Close Encounters ) began in conjunction with Greenwich House in 1998 and has become a fixture in the Greenwich Village arts calendar. Composers and performers who have participated in the concert series have expressed their appreciation for this forum:

I feel that the Cutting Edge Concerts Series is a truly important addition to the New York musical scene not only for its visionary programming and attention to detail but also for its intimacy and warmth. Victoria Bond's thoughtfulness and intelligence is felt throughout and at the end of the concert one feels that they have had a transformative experience. I was delighted to be a part of such an engaging event within a mutually supportive environment. BRAVO!!! I wish more concerts were treated with such care and love.
Jeffrey Mumford, composer

The Cutting Edge Concert series presents contemporary chamber music as it should be: expertly performed in a warm, intimate environment, and with the personal participation of the composers themselves. Everybody loves it, especially the audience!

Your hospitality allowed for a wonderful camaraderie between artist and artist, and artist and audience member. We appreciated it very much.

Wow! Thanks for your warm and generous words about "Spring Fever." It really means a lot to me. You are such a rare individual. Your warmth, generosity and musicianship are rare, valued and are the traits I admire most in the greatest spirits in my life. You must keep up the fight! Your concert series serves as testimony to those traits and your hosting skills illustrate further the warmth, support and generosity I am talking about.

It was truly a pleasure to play in your concert series - I was so touched that you had thought of programming me, and I was happy to be involved with such a pleasant group of artists! I must congratulate you…it was a wonderful experience, and I was so happy to be involved.

Cutting Edge Kids
Cutting Edge Kids, a natural outgrowth of Welltone New Music, got underway in 2003 with a concert in Guild Hall, East Hampton that offered a program of contemporary music for young audiences and featured several young performers as well as professional musicians, singers and an actor. A mix of contemporary classical music, pop and music theater, hip-hop singers and dancers shared the program which was a success with the audience.

Producing Projects
In the spring of 2004, Welltone New Music co-produced A More Perfect Union with The Center for Contemporary Opera. As a new board member of The Center, Victoria Bond and Welltone are formulating plans to continue co-producing operas for young audiences.
